Walnut Creek is a small city of about 70,000 people situated in the San Francisco Bay area of Contra Costa County. The city is actually a suburb of Oakland, which is only 17 miles away.

Currently, it’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places. During a visit, you’ll see many artefacts connected to the family and the history of Walnut Creek.
2. Get Outdoors at Castle Rock Regional Recreational Area

Located in a canyon on the banks of Pine Creek, it’s home to a range of facilities and offers plenty of space to participate in a variety of activities.
Some of the on-site facilities include a large swimming pool, horseshoe pits, picnic areas, a softball field, and basketball and volleyball courts.

6. Spend a Day on the Greens at Boundary Oak Golf Course

7. Explore the Beautiful Civic Park

This top attraction in the region offers many educational experiences to visitors, including a variety of exhibits about the animals they treat and the history of the centre. You’ll have the chance to get behind the scenes at the on-site Wildlife Hospital and see live care operations unfold.
You’ll also see a live bee centre and explore an underground habitat. A children’s discovery room is on-site.
10. Roam Around the Historic Borges Ranch

The remaining buildings have been restored and preserved, including original barns, corrals, and the blacksmith shop.
You have the option to explore the ranch on your own or take one of the guided tours offered on select days throughout the month. As you make your way through the property, you’ll also meet the farm animals that live there.
Patrick Hanna Grove Picnic Area, which is next to the ranch, has picnic tables and a lovely pond.
