Warframe has no shortage when it comes to player consumable resources. While these ‘resources’ come in a plethora of shapes and sizes, it’s pretty easy to distinguish them through their distinct usage. Amidst these resources, the Tubercular Gill System still manages to take the cake for usability and practicality.
The Tubercular Gill System is an item that essentially allows you to breathe and traverse within many gaseous environments and habitats. While the general usage of the said item remains the same, it’s also often used for crafting Mutagens.
Having said that, the Tubercular Gill System’s utility isn’t limited to in-game trading. Rather, the crafting utility can be morphed into many useful items as long as you have the necessary knowledge. On that note, let’s take a deeper dive into how this system essentially works.
How Does Fishing Work In Warframe?
Much like most of today’s ARPGs, Warframe also features a dedicated fishing mechanic that allows you to catch exotic fish for rewards and vice versa. While the mechanic is not directly linked with most quests, you will often be tinkering with the Fishing Gear in one way or another.
Since the activity is strictly non-combat, every player is allowed to do it as long as they have enough standing in the associated landscape where fishing is permissible. However, you will need a fishing rod in order to initiate the mechanic.
Since there is a plethora of fish to catch, you will often find yourself obtaining the Tubercular Gill System depending on your luck. Having said that, let’s dive a bit deeper into its acquisition.
How To Obtain Tubercular Gill System?
The Tubercular Gill System is an item that’s strictly obtained from fishing a multitude of exotic Fish in the lands of Warframe. Luckily, there are a few sources that near-guarantees a Tubercular Gill System drop given you’re able to fish in/for them.
On that note, you will be better off finding the most convenient one out of them instead of trying to place your limbs where they don’t belong. Since the drop rates are near-identical, you won’t be losing much out of it.
Ostimyr
Source: Warframe Wiki
This is a hybrid fish that likes to live on the outskirts of Cambion Drift. Since the landscape here is rather open and expansive, you will be able to find a lot of fishing spots in the most random locations possible.
Having said that, the Cambion Drift secretes an infestation-infused liquid that affects Orokin Fish to produce Ostimyr. Due to this very fact, you will mostly be encountering infested fish since it’s not possible for regular fish to trespass through it.
Moreover, these infestations are incapable of flight. Therefore, you will have a much easier time obtaining them.

Aquapulmo

Similar to the Ostimyr, the Aquapulmo can also be found in the Cambion Drift. However, they are much rare to encounter. The Aquapulmo species are rather hard to identify since they’re pretty identical to Duroid and Kymaeros.
All the three tiers of Basic, Adorned, and, Magnificent have a decent chance of dropping the Tubercular Gill System. However, you can also end up with Pustulent Cognitive Nodule or a Ferment Bladder depending on the RNG.
Overall, catching Aquapulmo is better off left to luck since going for them specifically can set you much further than what’s generally considered worth it.

Vitreospina
Source: Warframe Wiki
The Vitreospina is a living shell of a fish found in the Cambion Drift as well. While its basic form looks somewhere between an insect and a machine, you will have a pretty hard time identifying it from the Chondricord and Barbisteo since they pretty much behave the same.
The Vitreospina can be attracted with the help of Fass Residue. This item can be acquired after Vome kills Fass. Once the small orange energy zones begin to form on the Cambion Drift, simply head inside to collect as much Fass Residue as needed.
This method works for Ostimyr as well and is generally considered the best farming method for the Tubercular Gill system.

Myxostomata
Source: Warframe Wiki
While most of the fish found in the Cambion Drift are corrupted in one way or another, there are still some like Mysoxtomata that manage to be relatively pure. This fist is one of the rarest found in the said area and is uncorrupted due to its high resistance against the biome.
Having said that, it’s generally found in caves and can be gathered in quantity by using the Processed Vome Residue as bait. The most common drop from this fish is the Tubercular Gill System. However, it’s also possible to get Benign Infested Tumor and Cranial Foremount.
In general, the Myxcostomata can be considered a lucky fortune. Its rarity makes it hard to catch the Myxostomata in bulk, but the chances of obtaining the Tubercular Gill System from it make it worth the effort.

Duroid

Similar to the Myxcostomate in nature, the living fossil – known as the Duroid also belongs to the uncorrupted Orokin category. It can be found in caves and can be lured in with the help of Vome Residue.
The Duroid is seemingly similar in nature to Aqualulmo and Kymaeros. Therefore, it’s quite common to confuse them with each other. Unfortunately, the Tubercular Gill System yield from the Duroid isn’t really worth going for unless you encounter a hotspot through a stroke of luck.
This fish belongs to the uncommon rarity. Therefore you will be encountering quite a few of them while looking for the said item.

Chondricord

The Chondricord is an uncorrupted variant of the Orokin species. Much like every other Orokin, the Chondricord is also readily available in the Cambion Drift. While its outer shell looks like a critter, it is generally put in the same subtree as Vitreospina and Barbisteo.
Chondricords are generally found in caves and can be relatively easy to draw in as long as you have the Come Residue. While there is no limitation on the number of Chondricords you might encounter in a cave, they still belong to the uncommon rarity – and are thus, luck-based.
The among of Tubercular Gill Systems you can obtain out of a Chondricord is relatively moderate unless and until your catch is something to boast about.

How To Use Tubercular Gill System?
The Tubercular Gill System is nothing more than a crafting material that’s used for mutagens. Its recipes can range from Kitguns to complete components.
Unfortunately, there aren’t many recipes that utilize the tubercular Gill System in their Blueprints, so you’ll be good to go as long as you can gather up to 110 of them.
With that being said, here are the Blueprints that require Tubercular Gill System:
Zarim Mutagen
Source: Warframe Wiki
The Zarim Mutagen’s Blueprint is generally acquired after purchasing it from Son. This purchase will only be unlocked after reaching Associate rank in the Entrati. Having said that, the Mutagen is generally used for Cloned Flesh resistance development.
Upon consuming it, the pet becomes more immune to the following types of damages:
- Gas
- Impact
- Void
However, this much power always comes with a price, you will be sacrificing resistances against the following types of damages for the mentioned effect to happen:
- Slash
- Viral
- Heat
With that out of the way, here is the Blueprint for the Zarim Mutagen:
- Credits x 1000
- Vome Residue x 6
- Pustulite x 15
- Tubercular Gill System x 20
- Spinal Core Section x 8
Monachod Mutagen
Source: Warframe Wiki
The Monachod Mutagen is also associated with reaching a certain rank with the Entrati race. Once the Friend Rank is achieved, you will be able to see and purchase the Mutagen from Son. While it will set you back for 6,000 standings, it’s the only Slash and Toxin damage reduction you’ll ever need.
Having said that, mutagens’ effects don’t come for free. Therefore, you can expect to trade a decent portion of the following resistances throughout the activation period:
- Puncture
- Radiation
- Electricity
With that being said, here is the Blueprint for the Monachod Mutagen:
- Credits x 1000
- Vome Residue x 6
- Pustilite x 15
- Tubercular Gill System x 20
- Cranial Foremount x 4
Phijar Mutagen
Source: Warframe Wiki
Similar to the Monachod Mutagen, the Phijar Mutagen blueprint can be acquired once you reach the friend rank with the elusive syndicate of Entrati. Simply head to Son and purchase it from its shop for 6000 standings.
Since this one also makes the pet resistant to Slash and Toxin damage, it essentially boils down to the visual side effects that come with choosing either.
With that said, you will essentially be looking to give up the following damages if you choose to go the Phijar Mutagen Route:
- Puncture
- Electricity
- Radiation
On that note, here is the Blueprint for the Phijar Mutagen:
- Credits x 1000
- Vome Residue x 6
- Pustilite x 15
- Tubercular Gill System x 20
- Cranial Foremount x 4
Arcroid Loader
Source: Warframe Wiki
Kitguns have been a mainstream portion of Destiny 2 since its earlier days. The gun comprises components that can be upgraded and changed according to your requirements. This Arcroid Loader acts as the Kitgun Loader component.
Since the loader’s main purpose is to increase Critical and Status chance, you will only have use of it if you’re heavily reliant on Kitgun as your primary or secondary weapon.
With that being said, here is the Blueprint for the Arcroid Loader:
- Credits x 5000
- Scintillant x 3
- Purged Dragonic x 20
- Ganglion x 20
- Tubercular Gill System
Arioli Mutagen
Source: Warframe Wiki
The Arioli Mutagen requires you to reach the associate rank with the Entrati. Once again, this mutagen is also available from Son’s wares and can be purchased for 4000 standings. Once you acquire the blueprint, the rest of the process is as simple as procuring the necessary ingredients and combining them into one.
On that note, your pet will essentially be developing temporary resistances from Predasites with the help of Cloned Flesh. You can essentially hope to experience an increase in the following types of damages:
- Impact
- Gas
In exchange, the following resistances will be reduced to a certain degree:
- Slash
- Heat
- Viral
Having said that, here’s the Blueprint for Arioli Mutagen:
- Credits x 1000
- Vome Residue x 6
- Pustulite x 15
- Tubercular Gill System x 20
- Spinal Cord Section x 8
Macro Arcroid Loader
Source: Warframe Wiki
The Arcroid Loader is a scaled-down version of the original Arcroid Loader. It’s a Kitgun loader component that can be attached to Kitgun weapon type. Since Kitguns have been a popular choice for secondary weapon slots, we recommend you upgrade them as much as possible.
Surprisingly, the Macro Arcroid Loader is much easier to procure depending on your in-game progression. Therefore, you will be able to find most of the materials in generic areas.
Having said that, here are the manufacturing components needed to create a single Macro Arcroid Loader – once you purchase the Blueprint for 500 Standings:
- Credits x 5000
- Scintillant x 3
- Faceted Tiametrite x 20
- Tubercular Gill System x 15
- Ganglion x 20
Is Farming Tubercular Gill Systems Worth The Effort?
The answer to this can easily shift from a definitive yes to no depending on your game state. Unless you encounter a hotspot, farming these can take quite a while, especially when you have to redo everything if there’s a network bump or the hosts simply decides to leave the game.
Thus, it’s better if you try doing it in chunks and prioritize looking for hotspots instead of a single puddle. Consequently, you can also look to farm it in groups since your friends can have your back while you farm all the ingredients.
Conclusion
All in all, there is a multitude of uses and sources to obtain the Tubercular Gill System. However, each comes with its own sets of comfort and discomfort. Therefore, it’s majorly reliant on luck. It’s better if you refrain from going co-op on this one unless you have no alternative.
